Coach Lebedew optimistic leading into this weekend’s round of the Volleyball Nations League

The Australian men’s volleyball team heads into this weekend’s second round of the Volleyball Nations League in Ottawa, Canada. They are seeking to record their opening win in this year’s VNL.

The Volleyroos opened the VNL with three tough matches against the top three teams from last year’s World titles. Despite going down in all three, Australia pushed all teams: Poland, Brazil and the United States.

This weekend the Volleyroos come up against Canada, Germany and Serbia.

Australia will take the same squad into the second round that played in Poland, minus Max Staples.

Volleyroos coach, Mark Lebedew, says it’s a great opportunity for his side to bounce back; “Overall we are satisfied with performances in the first round against the medallists from the last world championships. Our goal is to get better every week and we are excited about the chance to play again and do exactly that. The guys have recovered well from the travel and have settled well into the hotel. Ottawa is a great venue, we enjoyed playing here last year.”

Canada has been bolstered by the return of several key players while Germany and Serbia will field principally unchanged line-ups.
