The Australian men’s volleyball team has finished the 2018 World Championship on a high with a 3-2 victory over Slovenia in Italy this morning.
The Volleyroos recovered after being down 2 sets to 1 to win the next 2 to record a 5 sets win 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 15-11.
Luke Smith top scored with 21 points, Lincoln Williams scored 16.
The game was the last at this year’s world titles for the team after they made it through to the second round.
For Australian coach Mark Lebedew, it was a satisfying way to finish the World Championships, “I am really happy with the win and for my guys. We had a really long international season and winning this match is a reward for the job done by the team.”
Lincoln Williams, who was one of Australia’s best through the tournament, was pleased with his side’s ability to match it with the top teams, “We fought hard in every match, it didn’t matter who we were up against.”
