Australia’s number one women's Beach Volleyball team and the Australian women’s indoor Volleyroos both had tough losses overseas tonight.
In Thailand the Indoor Volleyroos went down in straight sets (18-25, 18-25, 16-25) to “Khon Kaen Star VC" at the Thai Senior Club Championships.
Volleyroos Coach Shannon Winzer was frustrated that her team played well but let themselves down badly on serve.
“We had a ton of unforced errors and when you are playing a team that is struggling to score but never give them a chance at it, you make it hard on yourself. I have no doubt serving lost us those first two sets and the third set we played defeated.” Said Winzer.
“To be honest we played some good volleyball and after having a big focus on blocking and defence it was great to see improvement in those areas.”
“Momentum is a beautiful thing and our service errors ensured we never gained any.” Said Winzer.
The Aussies have a shot at redemption when they take on the Phillipines tomorrow night (Friday 9pm AEST).
Meanwhile in Warsaw, Poland at the FIVB 4 Star world tour event it was also straight sets loss 0-2 (17-21, 18-21) for Australia’s beach volleyball Commonwealth
Games Silver medallists Taliqua Clancy (pictured) and Mariafe Artacho del Solar.
The Aussie pair ranked world number 11 met a determined Latvian pair of Kravcenoka/Graudina who played well above the ranking of 30th in the world to score an impressive victory.
Clancy and Artacho del Solar get another chance to revive their tournament when they take on Finland tomorrow (Friday 5.50pm AEST).
