Canberra Heat women’s team confident of causing an upset this weekend in the finals of the Australian Volleyball Super League on the Gold Coast

The Queensland Pirates defeated the Canberra Heat in both games in the women’s competition in the regular season, ahead of this weekend’s semi finals of the Australian Volleyball Super League on the Gold Coast.

The two teams will face each other in the semi finals with the other semi final in the women’s competition featuring the Melbourne Vipers and the Adelaide Storm.

Queensland lost only two games through the season, defeating Canberra 3-1, 3-2 in round five.

Canberra coach Sue Jenkins says her side is ready for the challenge, “The Pirates will be tough. We haven’t beaten them yet, but we’re looking to put it all together when it counts and play a big game on Saturday.”

She says her side has plenty of motivation, “Saturday’s semi final means a lot to us all. We medalled last year for the first time in 13 years and we have set ourselves the challenge of going all the way this year. We will need to play well to overcome the Pirates but we are confident we can get the job done.”

The men’s semi finals on Saturday sees the Queensland Pirates playing the UTSSU Shield and the Canberra Heat takes on the Melbourne Vipers.
