The Australian Beach Volleyroos road to glory at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) just became clearer following the release of the official match schedule.
Australian men’s and women’s teams will both open their accounts on day one of competition, with the Australian women taking on Cyprus in the afternoon session and the men facing Fiji in the final match of the evening session.
The Aussies biggest threat and top ranked nation Canada play Fiji in their opening clash for the women on day one while the Canadian men will take on Sierra Leone in the afternoon session on day one.
The match schedule has been sanctioned by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and reveals the draw for the 36 match preliminary stage of the men’s and women’s competition from April 6-9 before the quarter final stage commences on April 10.
Each nation will play three matches during the preliminary stage of the competition, with the two highest ranked teams from each pool and the two best third-ranked teams from all pools advancing to the quarter final phase.

However, spectators now have the opportunity to purchase Premium Hospitality experiences, which have been made available at the Beach Volleyball and seven other GC2018 sports.
Olympic Beach Volleyball gold medallist Natalie Cook said the world-class Beach Volleyball stadium and atmosphere at Coolangatta Beach was set to rival that of Sydney 2000.

GOLDOC Chairman Peter Beattie AC said the release of the match schedule was another exciting milestone for GOLDOC with just 44 days to go before GC2018.
“There is a great deal of enthusiasm about the Beach Volleyball featuring for the first time at a Commonwealth Games at GC2018,” he said.
“The finalisation of the match schedule brings fans and athletes another step closer to being a part of the biggest event in Australia this decade.”
Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President Louise Martin CBE said the release of the match schedule was an exciting time ahead of the first ever display of Beach Volleyball at a Commonwealth Games.
“It is an exciting day for all the competing nations and Beach Volleyball fans around the world to learn the full match schedule for GC2018,” she said.
